The first scratch on your item will be heart-breaking, but as the item patinas and gains more marks over time, it will start to develop a character all of its own and one reflective of the journey you have been on. Naturally tanned leather will soften and crease in areas that see the most movement as it ages and this is part of the charm!
The natural oils within the leather will keep it supple, but over time leather can slowly dry out; therefore, every 6 to 12 months or if unwanted marks appear, apply a natural leather conditioner and very gently rub it in with a soft cloth. Be careful to avoid stitching and start with a small test area first. Please be aware that using leather care products can slightly darken the leather. Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can also cause dryness in leather, so make sure you store your item away from the sun when not in use to keep it looking its best.
All items can withstand the weather, however if your item gets wet, do ensure that you let it dry naturally. Any non-water spills should be dabbed away with a damp cloth as soon as possible.
Please be aware that there are numerous care products and ways to maintain your leather item, and I take no responsibility for the results that utilising such goods may produce.
